Meet the newest member of the Gottspeed Racing team: Hal's Turbo Bagger. This 2009 Harley-Davidson Road Glide took 6 months to build and was well worth the wait. Recently the Turbo Bagger was taken to the Texas Mile in Goliad, Texas and achieved a top speed of 184.3 MPH, which raised the question "Could this be the first 200 mph bagger?" Well, that's Gottspeed Racing's goal. To claim the title of World's Fastest Bagger you have to be the fastest at Bonneville, and that's where we're on to next. Gottspeed Racing will be taking Hal's Turbo Bagger to Bonneville in late August with plans to set the record for World's Fastest Bagger. Hal's Turbo Bagger has already started gaining national attention including a 3 page article and cover page spot in the June edition of American Bagger Magazine.
"As depicted in the pictures located above, Hal's Turbo Bagger was built from the ground up. "At the heart of Hal Gottsacker's dragstrip Bagger is a 131" JIMS Twin Cam style motor. The top end was rebuilt by American Turbo Power, while the bottom end is all JIMS. American Turbo Power supplied the turbo which gets its fuel/air mix from a Mikuni 45mm carburetor. A custom-built ATP exhaust system expels the gases. All this adds up to 250 horses and 225 ft.-lbs. of torque." - American Bagger Magazine
"A stock Harley-Davidson primary delivers power to a Harley transmission case equipped with JIMS six-speed gears. Shifting is performed by a Pingel Easy Shift electric shifter, because every fraction of a second counts on the drag strip. The rigid frame (yes a Bagger with a rigid frame) is from Sam Wills' Racing Innovations. The front end was taken from an '09 Buell XB, as were the wheels, rotors, calipers, handlebars and grips. American Turbo Power sprayed the flatblack paint. Alton and Bill Pelton painted old school graphics by hand." -American Bagger Magazine
This Bagger was not designed to be ridden cross country; it was desinged for pure speed. Keep checking Gottspeed Racing for updates on where they'll be next.
