For the Love of Kids and Harleys was established by local businessmen John Miller (Bill Miller Bar-B-Q), Fully Clingman (H-E-B), Larry Walker (San Antonio Express-News), John Peveto (Brake Check) and Hal Gottsacker (Gruene and Javelina Harley-Davidson) to benefit the children in our community. For the Love of Kids and Harleys has consistently been rated one of the top fundraisers in San Antonio based on the percentage of dollars given directly to the charities and to date has raised over $2.5 million for local children's charities. 2009's recipients were Easter Seals, St. Judes Ranch for Children, San Antonio Sports and the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. More than 8,000 bikers and motorcycle ethusiats rolled into Gruene Harley-Davidson for the first ever Rally on the River. Free and open to the public, rally goers enjoyed continuous live music, motorcycle stunt shows, factory demo rides, women rider events, MMA cage fights, bike shows, the Miss Rally on the River contest and one of the largest collection of vendors ever assembled in Texas. Rally on the River 2010 is extending its rally site to include, not only Gruene Harley-Davidson, but the Comal County Fairgrounds as well.
